In the last couple of decades, so many movies have been released based on video games. Some of the movies might be sucks or some of them are the greatest of all time. In this countdown, we look at the top 10 best video game movies you should watch right now if you haven’t.

So here we go. starting from no 10.

10. Mortal Kombat (1995)

Here comes in No 10, in the list of top 10 best video game movies is Mortal Kombat Part 1. This movie was released in 1995. At that time this was one of my favorite movies. And I watched this movie lots of times. This movie was also super hit and make millions of dollars. After a huge success Mortal Kombat decides to make its 2nd part. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, which came out 2 years later after the first part released. But unfortunately, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation did not get much attention like the first part. And eventually, it gets flopped.

So many articles and forums claim the reason behind being flopped part 2 is that Paul W. S. Anderson (Mortal Kombat part 1 Director) did not direct the 2nd part. After that Paul W. S. Anderson makes ao many different kinds of films. The Resident Evil full movie series is one of his creations.

So After Mortal Kombat part 2, they decide to discontinue the movie series and instead make as it TV series. From 1998-1999 the TV series gets huge success and the series was Mortal Kombat: Conquest. Another TV series came out in 2011-2013 Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Next year in 2021 another Mortal Kombat movie will be released.

9. Silent Hill

Talking about in the 9th position is Silent Hill 1 and 2. Silent Hill 1 was released in 2006. And the idea behind these movies comes from the video game series called Silent Hill. Silent Hill is a survival horror-based game, released in 1999. Silent Hill 1 is a thriller/Drama movie with a great storyline. After part 1 release fans had to wait 6 years for Silent Hill 2 which was released in 2012.

As both film’s stories are linked with each other I recommend watching both. And I guaranty you will love these films

8. Max Payne

I can bet whoever reading this, is finish playing full Max Payne Series. One of my favorite video game series of all time. Max Payne movies named the same as the game Max Payne. The movie came out in 2008, Mark Wahlberg is the lead actor in this film. But they make this film so different. People think this movie more like a horror movie instead of an action movie. Because the trailer itself seems like a horror movie.

In terms of the visual effect, they try to keep similar to the game. They use an extensive amount of visual effect in many scenes throughout the movie. Due to the lack of character development and remove originality likewise the game, the movie didn’t stand out as expected. And as a result, it receives so many bad reviews and people started to hate this movie. But despite these bad ratings, this movie still manages to make a spot in the box office.

Another movie from great a video game series Hitman. Similarly, Max Payne, Hitman movie named the same as the game name. We all know how popular this Hitman series. Only two movies have been made from this game. Hitman which came out in 2007 and Hitman: Agent 47 in 2015. Although Hitman financially successful but it did not receive much attention from people. So they decide to make Hitman: Agent 47

Hitman: Agent 47 is supposed to be the sequel of Hitman. But due to less popularity of original Hitman, they cancel it makes as a sequel instead make it as a reboot of Hitman.

6. DOOM

Doom, same-named as the video game title. This film was released in the year 2005. Game Doom 3 in 2004 and Doom 2016 was the most popular game of the full Series. But the film not turns out a successful as the game, inside the film was a box office bomb. Meaning that this film was highly unsuccessful and unprofitable. The box-office failed to cross the film budget.

So, due to receives a huge failure from Doom they decide to reboot his film as Doom: Annihilation. This film came out last year in October as a direct-to-video, instead of releasing it in a theater.

5. Warcraft

Warcraft is a fantacy-action movie released in 2016. This film based on the Warcraft video game series. Though game warcraft is a real-time strategy-based game. But the story describes in the movie is so straight forward and understandable. This film script receives so many negative reviews from critics. Despite all negative reviews this film able to make a huge profit world-wide and surpass the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time as the highest growsing video game film.

Everyone is waiting for its sequel. But up until now, there is no confirmation from Legendary Pictures about its sequel.

The lead actress of these films is Angelina Jolie, both movies are adopted form the 1996 Tomb Raider video game. Both movies did averagely well in terms of profit.

After the year in 2018, Tomb Raider released as a reboot of the Tomb Raider series. The Lead actress of this film is Alicia Vikander. Tomb Raider (2018) adapted from the famous game Rise of the Tomb Raider. So, maybe in the future, its sequel will be released.
